What is church?

We believe that the church is not a museum for religious people but a hospital for those who know they need help. As our greatest needs are met in the Lord Jesus, the purpose of the church is to make, teach and send out followers of Jesus, to the glory of God and for the good of our town.

At Christ Church Stockport we believe that the church is made up of many members that form one body. Therefore every Christian has God given gifts that are to be used for the common good.

There are many ways you can use your gifts at Christ Church. Speak to one of the leaders and we can discuss with you how you can best serve the church community. There are many different areas of ministry there are opportunities to serve in many different ways.

Whilst there are always roles to be filled, we are more concerned that an individual finds the right place for them to be serving and exercising their gifts rather than simply filling gaps on a rota!

Outside of the church community, we believe that Christians should make a difference in the wider community. Many of our church family are involved in the community, formally serving as school governors, volunteering in local groups or by being part of sports and social clubs. We welcome and encourage this kind of service and seek to support one another in it.
